10 Reasons Park City is the perfect place for your Destination Wedding
Let me count the ways.
I will admit, Park City holds a special place in my heart. This is where I fell in love with being a destination wedding planner. Since 2010, I’ve been creating amazing weddings in this dreamy spot in the mountains and I’ve seen it evolve into a true mecca for getaways and destination weddings. Not only is it absolutely gorgeous here in any season, the local culture is great. There’s so many wonderful people that call Park City home and this ski town really makes it such a pleasant escape from regular life.
Here’s my quick list of why it’s so great, (and why my clients love it too!).
Location!
It’s quite centrally located in the nation, so clients who have family spread out across the states can jump on a variety of relatively short flights and land at a major airport with access to all the preferred methods of transportation. I’ve even had clients take the road trip and drive to Park City to their wedding from Texas and New York.
Easy Access.
Upon landing at the SLC airport, you and your guests will have only a short drive to the hotel. Depending on traffic (which is nothing compared to larger metropolis traffic!) you’ll be in your hotel room breathing in fresh mountain air within 60 minutes of getting in the car.
Getting Around is SO EASY!
Unless you’re at a private home that is a little off the beaten path, renting a car for your wedding weekend is not a must in charming Park City. And even if you do choose to stay in a residence that’s a little further away from the action, it might just mean a little bit longer of a wait for an Uber. But you really can go without a rental car here. You can take an Uber from the Airport to your hotel, and most of the hotels have a shuttle service that goes back and forth to Main Street. You can order an Uber or Lyft from your hotel and there are of course cabs. Park City also has a really smart free public trolley and bus that make it really easy to get around if you find yourself within walking distance to a bus stop. Main Street itself is walkable, though uphill can be a battle and then you will find you might want a ride back up Main Street…
5. Venue Variety:
There is quite literally a venue for every budget and style. Whether you’re looking for a simple mountainside ceremony with a sweet reception, a beautiful ranch wedding day or a luxurious resort wedding weekend set against iconic Deer Valley you’ll be able to plan the perfect wedding to suit your wedding style and make the most of your budget.
6. Talented Wedding Vendors:
It might surprise you, but Utah is home to some seriously talented creatives. Like everywhere else, you definitely want to vet your vendors and of course hire a really great planner who can help you navigate snagging the good ones, but you really can find your dream team right in Utah. I have nurtured true relationships with the very best in the local industry here and I trust my group of handpicked preferred vendors intrinsically. They’ve proven themselves time and time again and for years they have brought such great creativity and integrity to my clients on their event days. If you need vendor recommendations, message me, I’m happy to share the list of the very best.
7. Great options for your Rehearsal Dinner and Welcome Party Exist here.
Don’t be fooled, you will find that the wine, beer and booze flows here just as well as it does anywhere else (Despite what you’ve heard). Main Street is host to plenty of darling restaurants that have great patios and amazing Chefs. You can host your Welcome Party and Rehearsal Dinner on separate nights or stack them one after another for a long delightful evening before the main event.
8. Activities and Things to Do!
This place is a dream come true for those looking to have a full weekend of fun planned for guests. Even if you don’t want to actually plan out a schedule of activities, your guests will definitely want to come for the whole weekend to explore. In summer, the adventurous set will love the easy access to mountain biking, hiking, fishing, horseback riding and so much more. If they’re less inclined to put on a pair of hiking boots, they’ll love exploring Main Street. The town is filled with history so the shops and museums are fun to check out as is the Olympic Park. In winter, the amazing snow obviously beckons the skiers and snowboarding enthusiasts but Main Street is just as charming to explore when it’s covered in snow! Not to mention, some of the very best spas are found in Park City!
9. There’s plenty of lodging options.
Many of my clients arrange a room block for their destination wedding guests but it isn’t always a must. I love Park City for destination weddings because you can find a variety of hotel and resorts so you can definitely find a property that fits your style and taste. They’re all within close proximity, so even if your guests end up “all over town” they’re never actually that far away. You’ll also find plenty of private homes in different sizes. So if your dream is to have your entire family stay in a home all weekend, that is a definite possibility. If your friends all love to airbnb it in one of the charming historical homes, that’s an option too!
10. Your photos will be AMAZING.
This is not a regular place. This is PARK CITY. The backdrop of these particular mountains is absolutely mesmerizing and it’s such a stunning place to say “I Do”. Mountain weddings are of course gorgeous but something about the images of weddings here just have an extra layer of magic. From the first look to the ceremony and reception, your wedding photos will be gorgeous. Portraits against the backdrop of the beautiful mountains are outstanding in any season but I’ve never seen greener greens than Deer Valley in Summer or more magic than the beauty of these mountains covered in a fresh blanket of snow.
